Xabi Alonso, Chelsea's head coach, indicated that Cole Palmer has overcome the injury problems that negatively affected his season and is determined to return to enjoying football.
Palmer played only 26 Premier League matches last season, scoring 10 goals, and struggled to reach the level he displayed in his first two seasons at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking ahead of the Premier League opener against Fulham at Craven Cottage, Xabi Alonso said: "Cole Palmer is determined to enjoy football; he wants to be physically fit."
He added: "The English forward wants to feel healthy and to be fully in sync with his teammates in the new 2026/2027 season."
Continuing in remarks reported by the British news agency PA Media: "I have previously said that if we have this version of Cole, and we can reach it, and he feels fluid in his play and communicates well with his teammates, then I am certain his level will be top-class, indeed world-class, and that he will deliver a fantastic season."
The English forward suffered from limited mobility at times after returning to the squad following a thigh injury, which had caused him to miss most of the first three months.
Furthermore, his creative contributions dropped significantly compared to previous years, resulting in his absence from England's squad for the 2026 World Cup under German coach Thomas Tuchel.
