English media reports have highlighted a recommendation by Ahmed Hossam Mido, the former Tottenham player, urging the club to sign Egyptian star Omar Marmoush.
The British newspaper "The Sun" linked these recommendations to rumors connecting the player with a move to the team during the ongoing summer transfer window, arriving from Manchester City.
Tottenham hopes to complete a double deal to sign Manchester City duo Savinho and Marmoush before the end of the transfer window.
According to the newspaper, Tottenham's interest in Marmoush is not recent; it dates back to his time with Eintracht Frankfurt before his transfer to Manchester City was finalized.
Prior to this, Mido had recommended signing Omar Marmoush, asserting at the time that he would be the ideal fit for the playing style of Ange Postecoglou, the former manager of the English club.
Mido, who scored 19 goals in 61 matches for Tottenham between 2004 and 2007, urged the club's chairman at the time not to repeat the mistake of ignoring his earlier advice to sign Mohamed Salah years before his move to Liverpool.
That was when Salah was still playing for the Swiss club Basel, before moving to England and becoming an icon of the Premier League with Liverpool.
The newspaper covered Mido's tweet on his official "X" account, where he said: "Years ago, I advised Tottenham to sign Salah when he was still at Basel, but they never listened to me."
He added: "I am telling you now, please sign Marmoush. He will be a wonderful addition and will fit perfectly into Ange Postecoglou's style as either a left or right winger. He is a hardworking player, a top-class professional, and capable of scoring goals. Please, Levy, sign Marmoush from Frankfurt."
The newspaper noted that Mido's wish for Marmoush to join Tottenham might come true after two and a half years, as the team now seeks to sign the player.
Omar Marmoush has scored 10 goals in the Premier League for City, achieving this in just 22 matches where he started.
