Arsenal FC has officially announced the signing of English defender Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa on a long-term contract, making him the club's latest acquisition during the summer transfer window.

Konsa, 28, began his professional career with Charlton Athletic in 2016 before moving to Brentford in 2018. He then joined Aston Villa in 2019, where he spent seven seasons, featuring in over 200 matches for the club across all competitions.

Konsa is proficient in playing both as a centre-back and a right-back, and in recent years has established himself as one of the Premier League's most prominent defenders.

At the international level, Konsa represented England at the Under-20 and Under-21 levels before making his senior debut in 2023. He has since featured for the Three Lions at UEFA Euro 2024 and the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Andrea Berta, Arsenal's Sporting Director, stated: "We are delighted to complete the signing of Ezri Konsa. He is a top-class defender whose excellent physical fitness, composure, and tactical intelligence have cemented his status as one of the most consistent players in the Premier League."

He added: "His ability to play both as a centre-back and a right-back will provide our team with significant flexibility, complemented by his extensive experience in the Premier League and at the international level, as well as his strong leadership qualities."

Berta continued: "Most importantly, we welcome a player who possesses the character and mindset required to make an immediate impact at the club."

Konsa will wear the number 15 shirt for Arsenal and will join his new teammates immediately, pending the completion of regulatory procedures.
