Reports have revealed the final decision of Julián Álvarez, the first-team football player for Atlético Madrid, amid the dispute over his future and whether he will leave or remain within the walls of the Rojiblancos.

Julián Álvarez is considered the biggest headache for all followers of the 2026/2027 transfer market, due to the ongoing conflict between Barcelona and Atlético Madrid over him.

Barcelona had wanted to sign him to compensate for the departure of Polish player Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres, who recently moved to Paris Saint-Germain.

However, Atlético Madrid’s stubborn stance prevented the deal from being completed, and they officially confirmed that Álvarez will not be sold to any Spanish club.

According to the Catalan newspaper “Sport,” Julián Álvarez informed Atlético Madrid’s sporting director, Mateo Almeyda, that he will stay at least until the January transfer window next year.

It was reported that despite receiving numerous offers throughout the summer, particularly interest from Arsenal to sign him, the Argentine player decided to remain with Atlético Madrid.

It was noted that the likely reason for Álvarez’s decision is his hope to complete his transfer to Barcelona in the January window and for the situation regarding Atlético Madrid’s management to change.

The report emphasized that Atlético Madrid’s management wants to sell Álvarez at the earliest opportunity to any team outside Spain, due to their deep fear of him losing motivation and passion for being part of Diego Simeone’s project, the Rojiblancos’ coach, alongside the impact this has on the players, which will negatively reflect on the team’s results.
