Lucas Harrington, the Australian defender who missed a penalty against Egypt, spoke about his country's farewell to the 2026 World Cup at the hands of the Pharaohs.

The Egyptian team qualified for the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup at the expense of Australia through penalty kicks.

Harrington said on his personal Instagram account: "We gave it our all. Grateful to be part of this special group, we will be back."

He added, "Thank you to Australia for the support as always, moments I will never forget."

Harrington missed Australia's fourth penalty, which he hit against the crossbar of Mostafa Shobeir.

After that, Hossam Abdel Maguid scored Egypt's fourth penalty, which announced the Pharaohs' qualification to the round of 16.
