Aramco Stadium management plans to open it before the end of the current year and to host the finals of the 2027 Asian Cup, according to the Saudi sports newspaper.
The report added that the final opening date remains linked to completing operational and construction readiness, and completing comprehensive tests of all stadium systems, which will be carried out during next September before its official operation.
Aramco Stadium in the city of Khobar is considered a main venue for Al-Qadsiah team, and one of the most prominent new sports projects in Saudi Arabia.
It is being built on an area of about 800 thousand square meters, and accommodates 47 thousand spectators, and it is among the facilities prepared to host major tournaments, including the 2027 Asian Cup and the 2034 World Cup.
The stadium features a design inspired by the fluidity of a water vortex with external curves that give it a distinctive visual presence from various angles, and its design has obtained the Diamond Sustainable certificate, the highest classification in the Saudi Sustainable Building Program.
The project includes advanced systems for caring for the stadium's pitch, including humidity treatment and ventilation of the grass layers.
In addition to a smart system for managing irrigation water according to climate changes and the condition of the pitch.
The pitch consists of 95% natural grass and 5% hybrid grass, and it is supported by lamps that help grass growth in shaded areas.
