West Ham United striker Niclas Füllkrug revealed the reason behind his failed spell at the English club, confirming that he does not enjoy playing in England.

In an interview with Bild magazine, Füllkrug effectively ruled out a return to play in England again.
He said: "You only need to look at my medical record. I suffered a lot, but most of the time it wasn't due to muscular injuries."
He added, "I really can't explain why things went so badly for me at West Ham. England doesn't suit me, either as a player or as an athlete."
He continued, "Now I just hope everything stays as it is."
Füllkrug's situation becomes more complicated due to his contract with West Ham running until 2028.
It is also unlikely that West Ham will be able to recoup the £6.5 million or more they need to avoid recording a financial loss in their accounts, especially with the player approaching his 34th birthday next February.
Among the scenarios being considered is West Ham attempting to reach an agreement with Füllkrug to terminate his contract by mutual consent, allowing the German striker to choose his next destination among German clubs during the upcoming summer.
In the summer of 2024, the German striker left Borussia Dortmund and moved to West Ham for £27 million.
However, Füllkrug scored only 3 goals in 29 appearances across all competitions for West Ham before moving on loan to Milan during the winter transfer window in 2026.
After a disappointing spell at San Siro, the 33-year-old returned to one of his former clubs, Werder Bremen, on loan.
Füllkrug has scored 3 goals in 4 Bundesliga starts this season, including one against Leipzig.
