Hossam Hassan, the coach of the Egyptian national team, revealed details of the agreement he made with Mohamed Salah before the start of the tournament, confirming that an agreement was reached on a different role for the Pharaohs' captain on the field to serve the team's playing style.
Hossam Hassan said in statements to On Sport: "I am happy to have a significant role in developing Mohamed Salah and for him to perform some roles in matches that he is not accustomed to, and I am pleased that some see him differently from the position he plays in Europe."
He added: "Before the tournament, I agreed with Salah on his playing style in all of Egypt's matches, and together we created some collective solutions. He is a part of the system and greatly helps his teammates within the team."
The coach concluded his statements by saying: "We utilize the collective movements we work on because Salah, with his vast experience, is capable of being the main reason for the success of these movements and adding value to the team."
These statements come after the significant victory achieved by the Egyptian national team over Australia in the round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup in penalty shootouts, where the Pharaohs set a date with Argentina in the round of 16.
Argentina had achieved victory over Cape Verde with a score of 3-2 during extra time, after the first and second halves ended in a positive draw between the two sides with a score of 1-1.
