Egypt qualified for the round of 16 of the World Cup finals for the first time in history, at the expense of Australia after winning on penalties.
Egypt defeated Australia 4-2 on penalties after the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
Hossam Hassan said in statements to beIN Sports immediately after the match: "I congratulate the people of Egypt, the Arabs, and the entire African continent. We have honored Arab and African football to which we belong".
He added, "At the end of the match, I was saying (O Lord, let us win for the sake of the good people from Egypt all over the world who came from afar and were the best and most present at the World Cup). I say to all of you: (Congratulations to you, may God honor us only because of you)".
The Egypt national team coach concluded, "I dedicate the victory to another party besides the Egyptian people. I dedicate the victory to the Palestinian people who have never failed us in their support, and I say to them (May God have mercy on our martyrs from among you)".
Hossam Hassan had carried the Palestinian flag on the pitch after the match against Australia to salute the spectators in celebration of qualifying for the round of 16.
Egypt will play their round of 16 match on Tuesday against the winner between Argentina and Cape Verde.
