Channel 12 of the Zionist entity, under the title "Violation of FIFA rules: The disgraceful gesture of Egypt's coach," said that Hossam Hassan exploited the qualification to the round of 16 and the World Cup to make a political protest and dedicate the victory to the residents of the Gaza Strip.
The channel added: "Hossam Hassan waved the Palestinian flag - the flag of a country not participating in the tournament, which is prohibited under FIFA regulations."
The newspaper "Yedioth Ahronoth" covered Hossam Hassan's statements and picture with the Palestinian flag and commented, "The players of the Egyptian national team celebrated their historic qualification by prostrating on the field, and their coach also chose to use this occasion to express his solidarity with the Palestinians."
The newspaper mentioned that the victory of the Egyptian national team over Australia was received with great enthusiasm throughout the Arab world, and videos and pictures from the Gaza Strip spread on social media showing residents gathering to watch the match amid destroyed buildings and tent camps. Many children were painted in the colors of the Egyptian flag, and fans waved the Egyptian flag during the celebrations."
The Zionist newspaper "Haaretz," under the title "The coach of the Egyptian national team dedicates the victory to the Palestinians: 'My heart is with them,'" said that Hossam Hassan celebrated the historic achievement in a different way and mentioned the coach's statements with his picture with the flag.
The Zionist website "Walla," under the title: "Arab media mocks Israel: 'The Crybabies,'" focused on the reactions in the Arab media regarding Hossam Hassan's gesture.
