The Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" revealed that Spotify Camp Nou has become the leading candidate to host the 2029 UEFA Champions League final.
The newspaper clarified that Barcelona's stadium is competing with Wembley Stadium to host the final match, after the Catalan club submitted its bid to host this major European event.
The Spotify Camp Nou bid enjoys support from the Royal Spanish Football Federation, the Spanish government, the Government of Catalonia, and the Barcelona City Council, as stadiums in Spain and England prepare to compete for hosting the final.
The UEFA Executive Committee is scheduled to announce the host stadium for the 2029 UEFA Champions League final during its meeting on September 15.
Spotify Camp Nou is preparing to return at full capacity following completion of renovation works, with its expected capacity reaching approximately 104,600 spectators, making it the largest stadium in Europe.
Should Camp Nou be selected, this would mark the third time the stadium hosts a European Cup final, following the 1989 and 1999 finals.
