The Spanish coach Roberto Martinez has expressed great enthusiasm for the idea of managing the Algeria national team.
The Algeria national team is currently searching for a new head coach following the departure of the Swiss manager Vladimir Petkovic.
According to the French website Foot Mercato, Roberto Martinez, the former Portugal coach, is highly enthusiastic about coaching the Algeria national team and has shown willingness to make financial concessions to finalize the agreement.
The same report clarified that Martinez also does not object to working with an Algerian assistant coaching staff, as he believes Algeria possesses significant potential and currently boasts an impressive array of talents that could help him succeed.
Petkovic left his position as Algeria's coach after the team was eliminated in the Round of 32 at the World Cup by Switzerland.
Meanwhile, Martinez departed after Portugal's loss to Spain in the Round of 16.
Martinez, aged 53, began his managerial career in 2007 when he took charge of Swansea City, before moving on to manage Wigan Athletic and then Everton in England.
Regarding international teams, the Spanish coach began his international managerial journey in 2016, leading the Belgium national team until 2022, before taking charge of the Portuguese national team in 2023, a position he will hold until the 2026 World Cup.
