Yasser Ibrahim: Our greed against Argentina and Shoubir deserves professionalism

Via Yallakora

Yasser Ibrahim, the defender of the Egyptian national team, confirmed that he was aspiring to achieve victory against Argentina in the round of 16 of the World Cup, but the Pharaohs faced bad luck in the final minutes, touching on the level of Mustafa Shobier in the World Cup, and the role of Mohamed Salah with the national team.

Yasser Ibrahim said in statements via MBC Egypt 2 channel: "We haven't gotten over the Argentina match yet, the dream went away in just 10 minutes, there was unnatural bad luck, despite us having an extremely wonderful tournament."

He continued: "Messi is the one who came to me in the Al Ahly and Inter Miami match, and naturally if he tried to provoke me I would respond to him, they should have taken the ball out after Marwan Attia's injury in a ball in the middle of the field, but they decided to cut the ball and continue the attack and try to score."

He added: "In the Argentina match, my ambition was to win, in any tournament I participate in, my goal is to win it, whether I face Messi or Ronaldo, I am coming to win."

He continued: "Marwan Attia made me the goal I scored against Argentina before, against Benin in the Africa Cup of Nations, and Captain Hossam Hassan trains us on this sentence continuously."

He added: "I felt that the referee would cancel the second goal scored by Zico, as soon as he announced his return to video technology, he was limiting the players with some decisions inside the field, and Hamdi Fathi told him that his shirt was torn so he gave him a yellow card."

He added: "I told Marwan Attia after scoring the second goal that the match was not over yet, and that the referee would give them 10 minutes of added time, and we must hold on, and I should not have played on the offside trap in Argentina's first goal, but what happened was bad luck."

He touched on what happened after conceding the equalizer against Argentina, saying: "We felt unnatural frustration after Argentina's second goal, but we assured each other that the match was still ongoing, and that we had beaten Australia on penalties, and our physical fitness would have helped us if the match had gone to extra time."

He added: "What happened may have been haste on our part, we were greedy in the match, we were facing the world champion led by Messi, and we played toe-to-toe, and we wanted to score the third goal and achieve victory, this confirms that the players made a great effort."

He explained: "Argentina's third goal was a perfect cross and there was a player coming from behind that my eyes went to, and I asked Salah to talk to the referee because it was a penalty whether for him or for Hamdi Fathi, but the referee said the review of the ball was over and there was nothing in it, and we felt that we were wronged on the field, and it is possible that we fell short but we were wronged at the same time."

Regarding his opinion on the brilliance of national team goalkeeper Mustafa Shobier, he commented saying: "Mustafa Shobier is one of the players I love and is close to me, and when he was promoted for the first time 4 years ago, I used to get his opinion, because I saw that his mentality was different and older than his age, God willing we will see him in Europe, he is working on himself well."

Regarding Mohamed Salah's role in the team, he replied: "Mohamed Salah's role is very important with us, his personality is leadership in the true sense of the word, he always asks us to enjoy, and not to fear any opponent, and to take responsibility so that we do not regret it later."

He pointed out: "I do not want to remember the Argentina match again, despite the goal I scored, because of what happened at the end."

He spoke jokingly: "Imam Ashour is a very big player, and the ball is different in his leg, although his brain is a bit tired, while Captain Hossam Hassan sometimes hits himself in training, and says I do not like losing."

He concluded: "I have one year left on my contract with Al Ahly Club, and I will talk to Captain Sayed Abdel Hafeez about this file, and no one has spoken to me about renewal."
