FIFA announced the suspension of England national team player Jarell Quansah for two matches after his expulsion in the match against Mexico at the World Cup.

FIFA confirmed that the penalty will prevent the player from participating in the quarter-final against the Norwegian national team, in addition to the semi-final if England qualifies.
The statement explained that the suspension came due to a reckless tackle, as his foot collided with the opponent's leg, which was considered an offense warranting the penalty.
FIFA decided to double the penalty from one match to two matches, based on the disciplinary regulations for violent play.
The English Federation had studied the possibility of appealing the decision, especially after the recent controversy regarding the suspension of Folarin Balogun, before his penalty was suspended.
Thus, the Bayer Leverkusen defender will miss the upcoming matches, and he will not have a chance to return except if England qualifies for the final.
The likelihood of Quansah's absence increases the crisis in England's right-back position, given the multiplicity of players who participated in this position during the tournament, such as Reece James, Djed Spence, Ezri Konsa, John Stones and Declan Rice.
Reece James, the main right-back, has been absent since his injury to the hamstring muscle during the match against Ghana in the group stage, so the team missed him in matches against Panama, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Mexico.
The England national team is scheduled to face its Norwegian counterpart in the World Cup quarter-final on Saturday in Miami.
