Trabzonspor, the Turkish club, has officially announced the departure of Fatih Tekke from his role as head coach.
Previously, Trabzonspor had rejected the resignation submitted by Fatih Tekke, the team's technical director, following a heavy 4-0 defeat against Hungary's Ferencváros in the second leg of the Europa League qualifying round.
In an official statement released today, Tuesday, the Turkish club confirmed the termination of its contractual relationship with coach Fatih Tekke after yesterday Monday's loss to Amed Sportif in the Turkish league.
Trabzonspor Announces Departure of Fatih Tekke
Trabzonspor stated in its official announcement: "Our vice-president, Serkan Keleş, met with our technical director Fatih Tekke to comprehensively evaluate the current situation and the future of our team."
It added: "As a result of the discussions held, we have mutually agreed to terminate the contract with Fatih Tekke in alignment with Trabzonspor's interests and future objectives."
The statement continued: "During his tenure, which lasted approximately 18 months, Fatih Tekke added significant value to Trabzonspor. Alongside his contributions to developing players who joined our team during that period, he achieved important gains for our club both sporting and economically. By winning the Turkish Cup, he once again etched his name into Trabzonspor's history."
It further stated: "At this stage, we have reached a mutual understanding with our coach—who affirmed that he could not accept his presence causing any harm to Trabzonspor in any form—that it is inevitable to adopt a new plan prioritizing the club's best interests above all else."
The Turkish club's statement concluded: "We extend our deepest gratitude to our coach for his efforts, diligent work, achievements, and the value he has added to our club thus far."
The club's statement finished with: "We wish Fatih Tekke every success in his future football career; as a member of the Trabzonspor family, I would like to affirm that we will always remember him with utmost respect and appreciation for the wonderful sentiments he brought to our club and the valuable legacy he left behind."
