Turkish club Trabzonspor announced the appointment of its former star Hussein Chamsir as interim coach, replacing Fatih Tekke.
Fatih Tekke officially left his position as Trabzonspor's coach following a decline in results.
Trabzonspor stated in an official announcement: "Our board of directors continues its diligent work regarding the position of our head coach. While the process of selecting our new head coach is ongoing, one of our former coaches, Hussein Chamsir, will prepare our team for Sunday's match against Gençlerbirliği on September 6."
Trabzonspor will face Gençlerbirliği next Sunday in the fourth round of the Turkish League.
Hussein Chamsir is considered one of the legendary players in Trabzonspor's history and retired from playing in 2013.
Chamsir previously coached Trabzonspor during the 2019–2020 season.
Trabzonspor includes Egyptian international star Mohamed Salah in its squad.
Trabzonspor lost to their rival Ümraniyespor by two goals to one in their third-round Turkish League match.
Egyptian legend Mohamed Salah played the entire match and managed to score his team's only goal.
Trabzonspor continues to suffer negative results, having previously lost 4–0 to Hungarian side Ferencváros in the Europa League qualifying playoff.
Trabzonspor had initially rejected coach Fatih Tekke's resignation following the heavy defeat to Ferencváros in the Europa League qualifying playoff, but ultimately decided to part ways with him after another loss against Ümraniyespor.
Tekke had been coaching Trabzonspor since 2025 and led the team to win the Turkish Cup title.
