Khaled El-Darndaly, Vice President of the Egyptian Football Association, revealed the truth regarding whether his report on the national team's trip to Juba would determine the future of Hossam Hassan, the Pharaohs' head coach.
El-Darndaly headed Egypt's first national team delegation to South Sudan, where the Pharaohs defeated the hosts five goals to nil in the second round of the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
El-Darndaly had previously confirmed that he would submit his report on the South Sudan trip, noting that he had witnessed several improper behaviors by members of the Pharaohs' technical staff.
In statements to On Sport channel, Khaled El-Darndaly said: "Will the technical staff continue after I submit my report? That is not the issue. Any delegation that travels must have its head write a report, but the decision comes during a board meeting."
He added: "There is currently no talk about dismissing the technical staff. We are above that. We do not make hasty decisions; we look at the entity and stability, and we do not settle scores."
He continued: "The technical staff remains in place, as we do not settle scores. However, everyone must realize that they bear responsibility and there are fundamentals that must be learned."
He completed: "My report does not concern the fate of the national team's technical staff, but (something like this cannot pass unnoticed). We will look into solutions, such as an apology and a pledge not to repeat it. Everyone must know their limits. There must be a stand taken."
He went on: "We cannot keep the report secret, especially given the controversy in the media, but there are 100 ways to handle the matter. I spoke with Abu Rida, the FA president, about what happened."
He further stated: "Everything unusual that occurred will be discussed. There were some minor irregularities. I informed the officials that nothing outside the pitch will happen except through me."
He added: "Matters remained stable during the South Sudan trip because I handled the situation calmly. I spoke with the players after the match and congratulated them on the result, as this is proper conduct."
He continued: "What concerns me is the best interest. Just as Hossam Hassan clarified his position regarding Mohamed El-Shenawy, there must be clarification about what happened. We are not hostile, and I am not confrontational."
Khaled El-Darndaly concluded his statements by saying: "We have done much recently to maintain stability. We have done much for Hossam and Ibrahim Hassan, held meetings, tried to help in every way, and provided more than imaginable. There must be balance in our relationship with the Egyptian national team's technical staff."
