The Portuguese Football Federation officially announced, this Wednesday, the end of its relationship with the Spaniard Roberto Martínez, the technical director of the Portugal national team, after a period that lasted 3 and a half years at the head of the technical leadership.
The Portuguese Federation clarified in an official statement the end of the coach's contract and his assistant staff, thanking them for the past period, and praising the "professionalism and dedication" that Martínez showed during his mission with the national team.
The Federation indicated that Martínez's period witnessed Portugal's crowning with the European Nations League title in 2025, in addition to commitment to the project and the ambition that led the team during the past period.
The Portuguese Federation said: "We thank Roberto Martínez and his technical staff for their professionalism and dedication during the past three and a half years, a period that witnessed winning the Nations League in 2025, in addition to the commitment and respect they showed towards the country and Portuguese football."
The President of the Portuguese Federation confirmed that the search for the new technical director has already begun, explaining that the goal is to continue the culture of victories and ambition that should distinguish the national team in all tournaments.
