The Spanish newspaper Sport revealed that German goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen is just steps away from transferring to Dutch side Ajax, after a final agreement was reached between all parties.
According to the report, the Barcelona goalkeeper will travel to Amsterdam today or tomorrow to complete the transfer procedures, following the resolution of a weeks-long crisis caused by tax issues that had delayed the deal.
The newspaper explained that the dispute centered on which party would cover the taxes arising from the player's move to the Netherlands, before Barcelona agreed to bear those costs and pay around 90% of ter Stegen's salary to facilitate his departure.
It added that lawyers for the three parties had spent the past days reviewing the contracts and payment guarantees before reaching the final agreement, making the deal ready to proceed.
Sport noted that ter Stegen had traveled with Barcelona's delegation to the team's training camp in Birmingham and took part in sessions as normal, before leaving in the coming hours for Amsterdam, where he will undergo a medical and sign his contract with Ajax, unless any last-minute developments arise.
