The British talkSPORT network revealed that Dutchman Arne Slot, the former Liverpool manager, has entered the list of candidates to take over the technical management of Saudi Al-Ahli, in the event of German Matthias Jaissle's departure to coach Newcastle United.
According to the report, Jaissle is close to succeeding Eddie Howe in coaching Newcastle, after the English coach spent five years with the team, which will push Al-Ahli to search for a new technical manager.
The report indicated that Slot, who left Liverpool's coaching in May after more than two seasons, is one of the most prominent names proposed, especially since he is not associated with any club at the present time, after previously refusing to coach Fulham, and his name has also been linked with Milan and the Netherlands national team.
The network added that Portuguese Vitor Pereira, the former technical manager of Wolverhampton and Nottingham Forest, is also among the most prominent candidates to take over Al-Ahli's coaching, benefiting from his previous experience in the Saudi league, where he previously coached Al-Shabab, and also led Al-Ahli in 2013.
talkSPORT confirmed that Al-Ahli's management has not yet decided its decision, as it is studying more than one option to succeed Jaissle in the event of his transfer to Newcastle in the coming days.
