German Thomas Tuchel, the technical director of the England national team, spoke before facing Norway, which will take place within the competitions of the 2026 World Cup, touching on revealing his experience in Mexico.
The Norway national team has an appointment with England, within the quarter-final competitions of the World Cup, and the match between the two teams will be held on the pitch of Miami Stadium, at exactly 12 a.m. on Sunday.
Thomas Tuchel's statements
Thomas Tuchel, coach of the England national team, began his statements by saying: "This is the most exciting stage, but we must return to our identity, hold on to what makes us strong, impose our style, and play with courage".
The coach of the England national team added: "We cannot enter a quarter-final match and come out of it feeling regret; we must give everything we have, that is the most important thing, and what the round of 32 and the round of 16 require. This is how we explained the matter to the players; you just have to find a way to win".
He continued: "Science says that we have benefited greatly from heat acclimatization training, and this will help us this week, and today as well, we spent a good amount of time training in the heat, and we will continue to build on that, but personally, I always wonder, can one really prepare for such conditions?"
He went on: "When we got off the plane in Miami, we expected the weather to be exhausting, and we might be lucky if a big cloud appears over the stadium or if it rains".
He added: "But everything we have done and the way of training and its places, and since the beginning of our journey in the United States, was aimed at preparing for these conditions; this is confirmed by scientific studies, and we hope that this will give us a slight advantage".
He continued: "It is true that the previous matches were held in closed stadiums or in relatively cool weather as happened in Mexico, and no one expected that; expectations indicate that the match will be difficult from a climatic standpoint, but the matter will be the same for our opponent as well".
He concluded: "I have fallen in love with the experience we lived in Mexico, and moving to a new country, and traveling to a country that loves football and lives it with all its emotions, and training in that training stadium was a very special experience, and playing in Azteca Stadium and playing a match in those atmospheres gave us a complete experience in every sense of the word".
