The Swiss national team secured a ticket to the round of 16 in the 2026 World Cup, after defeating its counterpart, the Algerian national team, with two goals to none, in the match that took place between them this Friday morning.

The Swiss team took an early lead in the tenth minute, with a goal by its striker Breel Embolo, following an individual effort by his teammate Johan Manzambi, who advanced with the ball and dribbled past Algerian defender Aissa Mandi, sending a ground cross that Embolo followed with a single touch into the net.

At the start of the second half, Dan Ndoye sealed the deal for his national team in the 46th minute, shattering the dreams of the Algerian team by scoring the second goal with a precise right-footed shot.

The Swiss national team will await the winner of the match between Ghana and Colombia in the round of 16 of the World Cup.
