Murad Yakin, the technical director of the Swiss national team, commented on the refereeing controversy in the last match that brought together Egypt and Argentina within the round of 16 matches of the 2026 World Cup tournament.
The Swiss national team is preparing to play a strong match against Argentina in the quarter-finals of the tournament, after winning against Colombia in penalty kicks in the round of 16, in addition to the Pharaohs losing to Lionel Messi's teammates.
The coach was asked in the press conference about the refereeing in the last match, where he said: "I generally think that refereeing is fair these days, and things are managed with integrity; everything can be controlled thanks to technology and the video assistant referee technology."
He added: "The Argentine national team is distinguished by a strong style of play, and shows its prowess in every match; they play with great enthusiasm, and if you do not keep up with them, it is difficult to overcome them."
The coach concluded his statements, saying: "But I am not saying that anything bad or negative has happened; matters should not be resolved by talking after the match, as the opportunity comes during play, within the ninety minutes, while insults after the match are irrelevant."
