A source from the Egyptian Football Association revealed the reason behind the investigation launched by the International Football Federation (FIFA) into Hossam Hassan, the head coach of the Egyptian national team.
FIFA has initiated disciplinary proceedings against three members of the Egyptian national team: head coach Hossam Hassan, team manager Ibrahim Hassan, and player Mostafa Ziko.
The source clarified in a statement exclusively to FilGoal.com: "The report received by FIFA's Disciplinary Committee regarding the violations committed by Hossam Hassan, head coach of the Egyptian national team, included the following."
The source added, "During the pre-match press conference against Argentina, Hossam Hassan made statements of a non-sporting nature, expressing his support for Palestine and his desire for its liberation."
The source continued, "The report also stated that the coach declared after the match that Argentina was favored to advance in the World Cup for marketing reasons, as the previous world champions, and that Egypt was treated unfairly."
The source concluded, "The report stated that Hossam Hassan declared that justice was absent from the tournament, that external factors improperly influenced the match, and that the principles of fair play, which FIFA champions, were absent from the match."

The match between Egypt and Argentina in the Round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup saw protests from the Egyptian team over refereeing decisions during the game.
Ziko stated after the match against Argentina that the referee was unfair, wasted the team's efforts, and that the tournament was rigged.
Hossam Hassan, on the other hand, became heated with the match referee, pointing at him with a gesture that was not racist.
The Egyptian national team was eliminated from the World Cup in the Round of 16 after losing to Argentina 3-2.
