Gawhar Nabil, Minister of Youth and Sports, revealed the existence of a legendary and popular reception awaiting the Egyptian national team immediately upon their return to Cairo after the end of their journey in the 2026 World Cup.
The Egyptian national team delivered a historic World Cup after reaching the round of 16, but bid farewell against Argentina following a 2-3 loss to Argentina.
The Minister of Sports said in statements via Sada El-Balad channel: "We delivered a fantastic match against Argentina; no one expected what we presented, and we deserved the win and qualification."
He added: "There will be a legendary and popular reception for the Egyptian national team after their return from the World Cup, and this is the least we can offer the players and the technical staff."
He continued: "We had fighting players on the pitch, and the world respected the Egyptian national team."
He concluded: "Messi was crying after the match because he did not imagine the win and qualification, and we all feel proud of what the players presented."
