Former Zamalek and Egypt national team player Ahmed Hossam Mido commented on the official renewal of Hossam Hassan's contract with the national team until 2030.
Hossam Hassan achieved a historic milestone with the Egyptian national team at the 2026 World Cup, reaching the Round of 16 before being eliminated by Argentina with a 2-3 loss.
Mido stated in remarks to "Al-Nahar Channel": "Hossam and Ibrahim wanted changes in the technical and medical staff, but Hany Abu Rideh insisted that all names remain unchanged."

He added: "Renewing the twins' contract with the Egyptian national team is a reward for their loyalty. The process of regeneration and renewal in the national team must be carried out intelligently, and we must learn from our past mistakes in reducing the average age of the squad."
He continued: "My body froze, and I felt proud when Hamza Abdel Karim played for Barcelona, with all the fans cheering for him. An 18-year-old Egyptian player wearing the Barcelona jersey and replacing Rafinha, a star of the Brazilian national team."
He concluded: "Imagine if this player had stayed in Egypt; I swear by God he would not have played or would have gone out on loan to end up at Ceramica Cleopatra instead of Gradisar, for example. Young and emerging players are being wronged and denied the opportunities they deserve."
