CAF: Motsepe holds press conference Wednesday to reveal developments in African football

The African Football Confederation announced that Patrice Motsepe, president of "CAF", will hold a press conference next Wednesday.

The African Confederation revealed in an official statement today, Monday, that Motsepe will hold a press conference on Wednesday at 1:00 PM Cairo time.

CAF indicated that Motsepe will speak to the media about many developments in the African Confederation and African football.

CAF also clarified in its statement that Motsepe will talk about his assessment of the performance of African national teams in the last World Cup tournament.

10 African national teams participated in the 2026 World Cup, which was held in the United States of America, Canada, and Mexico.

9 teams qualified for the round of 32, while only the Tunisian national team bid farewell to the World Cup from the group stage.

The Egyptian and Moroccan national teams continued their journey in the World Cup, before the Pharaohs bid farewell to Argentina in the round of 16, and the Atlas Lions followed them from the quarter-final round against France.

Egypt had submitted a request to CAF to increase the number of clubs participating in the African Champions League and the Confederation.

A statement from the Egyptian Football Association revealed: "The share of some federations may rise, according to the applicable classification criteria, to 3 clubs in the African Champions League, and 3 clubs in the African Confederation Cup, provided that the participation of the additional clubs begins from the preliminary rounds."

It is scheduled that the league champion and the runner-up will participate in the African Champions League tournament.

While the third place in the league and the cup champion participate in the African Confederation.

Zamalek won the league championship, while Pyramids came second, Al-Ahly third, Ceramica Cleopatra fourth, and Al-Masry fifth in the standings table.

While Pyramids won the cup championship, and Z finished as runner-up.
