In return, negotiations between the two clubs are also exploring the possibility of English winger Jamie Gittens, Chelsea's winger, moving to Roma on loan for the current season.
Roma had previously attempted to sign Gittens, but Chelsea rejected the offer, before the situation changed with developments in the negotiations regarding Koné.
According to Italian reports, Chelsea has submitted an offer of close to €60 million to sign Koné, amid growing confidence that the deal can be completed before the transfer window closes.
Chelsea's moves come amid speculation linking Enzo Fernández's future to a potential transfer to Manchester City, prompting the London club to act to strengthen its midfield before the end of the transfer window.
Manu Koné had previously attracted attention during his appearances for the French national team at the 2026 World Cup.
