The Senegal national team secured a valuable victory against Ethiopia, winning 1-0 in a match played as part of the qualifying stage for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations finals.

The Lions of Teranga returned with three precious points from an away match, within the second round of Group 10 in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, which are being held in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.

Senegal overcomes the obstacle of Ethiopia

Senegal's only goal against Ethiopia was scored by player Ibrahima Mbaye in the 11th minute, granting his team three valuable points in their journey to qualify for the finals, which will take place next summer.

The Senegal national team, led by coach Patrick Vieira, took second place in the group with four points, trailing leaders Mozambique on goal difference. Sudan is third with three points, followed by Ethiopia in last place with no points.

The qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations feature the participation of 48 national teams, divided into 12 groups, each containing four teams, with competitions played over six rounds.

The top two teams from most groups qualify for the finals, while the qualification system differs in the groups that include the three host nations: Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
