CAS announces hearing session between Senegal and Morocco

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) announced that a hearing will be held regarding the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final between Morocco and Senegal.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) had previously announced the withdrawal of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title from Senegal and its award to Morocco due to events during the final match.

In an official statement, CAS said: "A hearing on the appeal filed by the Senegalese Football Federation against CAF and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation concerning proceedings related to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final is scheduled for Thursday, October 8, 2026.

It added: "The session will be held in person at the headquarters of the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland. It will take place behind closed doors without media presence, and the arbitration panel will begin its deliberations. At this stage, CAS cannot determine when the final decision will be issued, but it will not be on the day of the hearing."

Senegal had originally won the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title against Morocco with a 1-0 victory in the final match.

The final saw Senegal leave the pitch for 12 minutes in protest after referee Jean-Jacques Ndala awarded a penalty kick in the closing minutes of the game.

The CAF Appeals Committee deemed Senegal to have withdrawn from the match, leading to the stripping of their title.

The Senegalese Football Federation then appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport against CAF's decision to strip the title.
