The Paris city police have put in place a special plan to secure the atmosphere in the France and Morocco match in the 2026 World Cup.
The Morocco-France match will be held tomorrow, Thursday, at Boston Stadium in the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup.
Paris is preparing for another evening full of fans, and before the quarter-final match between France and Morocco, the police directorate revealed on Wednesday the measures planned to ensure the safety of fans in the capital.
French newspaper L'Équipe reported that the Paris police will carry out an intensive security operation in the capital, and the planned measures to secure that evening include closing roads, intensifying inspections, and monitoring gathering places.
The main measure is the complete closure of Place de l'Étoile and the surrounding areas to traffic starting from ten o'clock in the evening on Thursday, which is the match kickoff time, until play resumes around five o'clock in the morning on Friday, while the rest of the Champs-Élysées will remain open.
Security forces will be deployed around the main broadcast sites, especially in the pedestrian areas in the Marais and Roquette neighborhoods, as well as throughout the public transport network.
This deployment will be accompanied by a specific crime-fighting strategy; in addition, the city of Paris has decided to exceptionally extend the opening hours of cafes, bars, and restaurant terraces until two o'clock in the morning to allow fans to continue their evening.
