The Spanish Football Federation announced the hosting of the Spanish Super Cup tournament for the 2027 edition in the city of Istanbul in Turkey.
This is the first time the Spanish Super Cup tournament is being held in Turkey, after the last 5 editions of the tournament were held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The clubs Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Real Sociedad are participating in the Spanish Super Cup 2027 edition.
The Spanish Federation's statement indicated that Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul will host the 2027 edition of the Spanish Super Cup, pursuant to an agreement concluded by the Spanish Football Federation to host this edition.
The Spanish Federation confirmed that Istanbul was selected to host the tournament after a period of work and negotiations during which seven offers from cities around the world were studied.
The Spanish Federation's statement stressed that the tournament will return to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2028, as Saudi Arabia is hosting the Asian Cup in 2027 on the same dates as the Super Cup tournament, and therefore the Spanish Football Federation sought to secure a different venue for this edition.
It is worth noting that Barcelona Club is the holder of the Spanish Super Cup title, after defeating its rival Real Madrid in the last edition with a score of (3-2).
