Saudi press reports revealed that Al-Riyadh Club obtained approval from the Saudi Professional League Association to contract with the Egyptian winger Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet, after the player had already signed the contracts for joining the team.

The Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiya explained that Al-Riyadh Club is preparing to officially announce the deal in the coming period, after obtaining the financial competence certificate, to become eligible to register players in the first football team squad.

It added that Trezeguet terminated his contract with Al-Ahly last month, in preparation for transferring to Al-Riyadh Club in a free transfer deal.

Al-Riyadh Club received the financial competence certificate on Thursday, after meeting the requirements set by the Saudi Professional League Association.

Trezeguet, who is 31 years old, has a long professional career outside Egypt, having previously played for English Aston Villa, Trabzonspor, Kasimpasa, and Istanbul Basaksehir in Turkey, Anderlecht and Mouscron in Belgium, and Al-Rayyan in Qatar.

The player had returned to Egypt last summer to represent Al-Ahly, after progressing through the club's youth sectors and rising to the first team in 2012, before starting his professional journey abroad in 2015 when he transferred to Belgian Anderlecht on loan, before the club bought his contract after one season.
