Spanish club Atlético Madrid announced the signing of Canadian Jonathan David, a player from Juventus, during the ongoing summer transfer window.

Atlético Madrid reached an agreement with Juventus to loan the Canadian player for one season.

David completed his medical examination with Atlético Madrid on Tuesday evening, prompting the Spanish club to officially announce the deal.

David had joined Juventus at the beginning of last season, arriving from French club Lille.

The Canadian player participated in 47 matches for the Italian club across all competitions, scoring 8 goals and providing 5 assists.

In Belgium, he began showcasing his full attacking potential, and after scoring 37 goals over two seasons with Gent, he joined French club Lille.

The striker remained with the French club for five seasons, during which he played 232 matches, scoring 109 goals and providing 31 assists, while winning the league title and the French Super Cup.

Jonathan David is Canada's all-time top scorer with 42 goals, three of which came in the most recent World Cup.

Jonathan David joined Atlético Madrid alongside Julián Álvarez and Alexander Sørloth, who are also with the Spanish club this season.
