Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer hinted at the timing of his final retirement from football, as the veteran player prepares to embark on the new season with the Bavarian club.
Neuer is considered among the most prominent goalkeepers in football history, boasting a career filled with achievements both with Bayern Munich and the German national team.
Neuer stated in remarks reported by the "Goal" website that the upcoming 2026/2027 season will most likely be his last in his career as a football player.
Neuer said: "I don't play matches just to say this is my last match; it doesn't matter if this is the last time for me in this stadium or that one. We'll see; it seems clear that I will retire next year."

He continued: "Our goals are all the goals we can achieve. We have always emphasized throughout the past season that every match is the most important, and this is the mentality we adopt this season as well. We want to win against all other teams. I think we had a good season, and with this team we have the ability to beat everyone and achieve all our goals."
Regarding his successor at Bayern Munich and the young Bavarian team goalkeeper Jonas Urbig, Neuer concluded: "We will support each other. We have a strong goalkeeping team, including Sven Ulreich and the young goalkeepers. The important thing is to help each other, motivate each other, and always give our best for the team."
