Sky Sport Germany reported that Schalke club reached a final agreement with Edin Dzeko in order to sign a new contract.
Dzeko joined Schalke last winter with a contract until the end of the season, and led the team to return to the German Bundesliga.
The report clarified that Schalke agreed with the 40-year-old striker to sign a contract for one season.
The medical examinations will be conducted on Sunday and Monday, according to the report.
The report added that Schalke's coach Miron Muslic made great efforts to complete the deal.
It pointed out that the coach was determined to add Dzeko's experience to his squad in the Bundesliga.
Schalke returned to the Bundesliga after an absence that lasted 3 seasons.
Dzeko played with the Bosnia national team in the 2026 World Cup, and the team was eliminated from the tournament in the round of 32.
Dzeko became, at the age of 40 years and 106 days, the oldest player to play in knockout matches in the World Cup.
