Ahmed Hossam "Mido" praised Omar Marmoush's abilities, stating that he will be a strong addition to Tottenham, and revealed that he had believed in his talent since giving him his debut with Wadi Degla.
Mido said in a statement to talkSport: "Tottenham have signed a wonderful player. Marmoush is a top-class goalscorer who can score goals, and he works hard for the team and has great professionalism."
He added, "I gave Marmoush his debut when he was 16 years old with Wadi Degla, and I always believed in him and thought he would become a big player."
He explained, "I believe Tottenham need a player of this quality because he will give De Zerby a different option in attack. He can play as a striker as well as a left winger."
He continued, "Marmoush is a hungry player for success, and I think he also needs Tottenham. He has not had much luck at Manchester City, and I see his move to City as a wrong decision because he needed consistent playing time."
He concluded, "Now Marmoush is at the best stage of his career. He is 27 years old and has reached his prime years. I am confident that he will start strongly with Tottenham and score goals, and the team's fans will love him."
Regarding Marmoush's best position, Mido said: "He is a left winger and has always been a left winger. In Germany, when he played as a striker, he scored many goals, but I believe his best position in the English Premier League is left winger."
He added, "He is very good at linking the lines, entering the penalty area, and shooting. He can also reach the far post as a second striker."
He continued, "Marmoush is not at his best when playing with his back to the goal. He needs to receive the ball in space, run behind the defenders, and get his chance to shoot, but he can also perform the role of a striker."
Mido concluded his statement, "A striker relies heavily on confidence. If Marmoush gets the confidence and the opportunity to score goals, he will do his job with Tottenham. I can assure Tottenham's fans that they have signed a professional and a top-class goalscorer. He will also add mental strength to the team, as he is one of those players who want to win and are ready to sacrifice for the team."
The Athletic reported that Marmoush received permission from Manchester City to undergo a medical with Tottenham.
The report added that Marmoush said goodbye to his Manchester City teammates on Wednesday morning before moving to the London club.
The report clarified that the deal will be a loan with an obligation to buy permanently under certain conditions.
The deal is worth approximately 60 million British pounds.
The Egyptian international is expected to sign a contract linking him to Tottenham for four seasons, with the option to extend for an additional season.
Tottenham is seeking to finalize the deal quickly so that Marmoush can be available to participate against Newcastle United next Saturday.
Newcastle is Marmoush's favorite opponent, against whom he has scored seven goals.
Tottenham is close to raising its total spending during the summer transfer window to approximately 400 million British pounds, if the deal for the Egyptian international is finalized, following the confirmation of the signing of Savinho from City.
Tottenham announced the signing of Savinho on Tuesday.
Tottenham did not announce the value of the deal, but reports predicted that it would exceed 75 million British pounds.
Tottenham sees Marmoush as one of the key elements in the project to rebuild the team's attack under the management of team coach Roberto De Zerbi.
Marmoush joined Manchester City in January 2025 from Frankfurt.
He played 62 matches for Manchester City, scoring 16 goals and providing 6 assists.
