Egypt will play against the Democratic Republic of Congo in the third round of the World Cup qualifiers, as part of the fourth stage of the qualifying campaign.
Egypt lost to Ivory Coast in the second-round match held yesterday, Saturday, with a score of 66-72, after having defeated Senegal in the first round with a score of 76-67.
The Egyptian national team is in Group 2 of the African qualifiers for the World Cup, currently being held in the Senegalese capital, Dakar, alongside the national teams of Ivory Coast, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Senegal.
Egypt currently holds third place in the group with 12 points, behind Ivory Coast with 15 points and Mali, who are in second place with 12 points.

The top two teams from each group will qualify for the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Qatar, while the team with the best third-place finish among the two groups will also advance to the Qatar World Cup, with five teams from the African continent qualifying for the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Qatar.
