The Egyptian basketball team lost to Côte d'Ivoire in the second round of matches during the fourth window of the 2027 World Cup qualifiers.
The Senegalese capital, Dakar, is hosting the fourth window competitions from August 27 to 30.
Côte d'Ivoire led at halftime with a score of 34-32.
Côte d'Ivoire won 72-66 despite Egypt's attempts to comeback in the final quarter.
Egypt is in a group that includes Angola, Mali, DR Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, and Senegal.
Egypt's points total currently stands at 12, placing them temporarily in third position.
Meanwhile, Côte d'Ivoire tops the standings with 15 points.
Egypt will conclude its matches in this window by facing DR Congo tomorrow, Sunday, at 3:30 PM.
The qualifiers are played on a home-and-away basis, with the group winner and runner-up advancing, along with the best third-placed team from both groups, to the 2027 World Cup finals.
Egypt needs to finish in one of the top two positions to secure direct qualification to the World Cup.
Or, at minimum, secure third place to compete for qualification as the best third-placed team.

The final list includes 12 players: Amr El-Gendy, Ehab Amin, Ibrahim Zahran, Omar El-Sheikh, Mohamed Taha, Adam Moussa, Ali Omar, Patrick Gardner, Omar Tarek, Hamd Fathy, Khaled Abdel Nasser, and Anas Osama.
