Sabri Lamouchi, the former coach of the Tunisian national team, revealed details of his departure from coaching the Eagles of Carthage, indicating that he did not receive any support from the Tunisian Football Federation during the tournament period.

Lamouchi was dismissed after the first match in the group stage, which ended with Sweden winning five goals to one, and Hervé Renard was appointed in his place.

He took over coaching Tunisia from January 2026 and was dismissed in June 2026, and coached the Tunisian national team in 5 matches, achieving one victory, one draw, and suffering 3 defeats.

Lamouchi said via Campo podcast: "No one even said goodbye to me after the match, we returned to the hotel, and after two hours they informed me of my dismissal, they had already met with the players to talk to them about the new coach, in fact he was with them on the plane".

He continued: "At that moment I said to myself they did not waste even a single second to carry out all that, and I did not receive any support at all from the Tunisian Football Federation throughout the tournament period".

He added: "With the presence of players like Louay Ben Farhat, Ferjani Sassi, and Aïssa Laïdouni, I do not think things would have been different".

He revealed: "I did not include Ferjani Sassi in the national team because some convinced me not to do so".

He concluded: "In the end, I am the one who sets the list of players, and I bore all responsibilities from the beginning, and no player was imposed on me, and no player was prevented from me".

The Tunisian national team was eliminated from the 2026 World Cup in the first round after the team suffered 3 defeats in the group stage against Sweden, Japan, and the Netherlands.
