The Tunisian Football Federation announced the official appointment of Moein Chaabani as technical director of the Carthage Eagles national team, after mutually terminating his contract with the Moroccan team Nahdat Berkane.
Hervé Renard had left his position at the head of the Tunisian national team's technical staff, after taking on the task temporarily in the 2026 World Cup and exiting the tournament from the group stage.
Renard took over coaching Tunisia instead of Sabri Lamouchi, who was dismissed after a 5-0 loss to Sweden in the first two matches.
The Carthage Eagles lost under Renard's leadership 4-0 to Japan and 3-1 to the Netherlands.

The Tunisian Federation said in a statement: "The university office of the Tunisian Football Federation, meeting today, Tuesday, July 28, 2026, decided to appoint Moein Chaabani as coach of the national team, with a contract extending for four years."
The new technical staff of the Tunisian national team included: "Murad Al-Maliki and Saifallah Hosni in the positions of assistant coaches, along with Khaled Al-Maghzawi as goalkeeper coach, while Hatem Boulila took on the task of physical preparation," and Wissam Safwat was assigned the responsibility of technical analysis.
