The Ivorian Football Federation announced the appointment of Hervé Renard as technical director of the Côte d'Ivoire national team.
This is considered Renard's second term with the Côte d'Ivoire national team after the period from June 2014 until May 2015.
Renard led the Tunisia national team in two matches at the 2026 World Cup against Japan and the Netherlands, succeeding coach Sabri Lamouchi, who was dismissed after the first round of the group stage following the 5-1 defeat to Sweden.
Renard takes over the leadership of Côte d'Ivoire succeeding Emerse Faé.
Renard had previously won the Africa Cup of Nations title with Côte d'Ivoire in 2015.
Faé led the Côte d'Ivoire national team to win the 2023 Africa Cup and participate in the 2026 World Cup.
The Ivorian Federation clarified in a statement that Emerse Faé's contract, which ended on July 31, 2026, will not be renewed.
The Executive Office of the Ivorian Federation expressed its sincere thanks and appreciation to Emerse Faé for his commitment, professionalism, and the services he provided during his tenure leading the team, praising his contributions to the development of the team and the results he achieved, which will remain an important part of the history of Ivorian football according to the statement.
The Federation also wished Emerse Faé success and prosperity in his upcoming professional career.
