Barcelona defender Jules Koundé explained that the reduction in his playing time with the Blaugrana since the start of the season is due to his performance last season.
Jules Koundé is experiencing a difficult start to the season; after being an indispensable starter at Barcelona, he is no longer necessarily coach Hansi Flick's first choice.
Koundé said in a press conference: "These are Hansi Flick's choices. I feel physically very good and am not suffering from any injury."
The Frenchman added, "If I am getting less playing time, it is linked to last season, which was well below my standards."
He continued, "I accept this outcome willingly, and it also represents a challenge for me. I will have to work hard, which is what I usually do."
He emphasized, "I need to regain my best form. I know that when I am at my best, I will get playing time."
He completed, "I wake up at 7:00 AM and train three times a day. This has become my routine to improve my performance."
Koundé participated in 5 out of the 8 matches played by Barcelona this season, totaling 261 minutes.
