Ibrahim Hassan, director of the Egyptian national football team, confirmed that no meeting was held with the Football Association officials in the recent period following the return from participating in the 2026 World Cup.
Ibrahim Hassan praised the support that the Egyptian national team received during the past period and throughout the 2026 World Cup, as he confirmed that the recent successes impose greater responsibility in the coming period.
Ibrahim Hassan added that there was no discussion or mention at all regarding any clauses related to renewing the contract with the Football Association Board of Directors, and therefore all the numbers, information, and clauses published about renewing the contract have no basis in truth.
It is worth noting that the Egyptian Football Association had previously announced through an official statement that the contract of Hossam Hassan would be renewed until 2030, to complete his project with the Pharaohs.
A source in the Football Association told Laila Koura: "The Football Association's session with Hossam Hassan to sign the new contracts did not take place due to Hossam Hassan spending his summer vacation, and no official date has been set for the session".
The Board of Directors of the Football Association, headed by Hani Abu Rida, had previously announced the formation of a committee headed by Khaled El-Derandali, Vice President of the Association, in order to settle all the contractual clauses related to Hossam Hassan's contract.
The Egyptian national team managed to reach the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup for the first time in its history, where it was eliminated after losing to Argentina, with a score of (3-2).
