Although the Pharaohs trailed in the first quarter, they managed to mount a comeback and clinch victory over Senegal, thereby boosting their chances of qualifying for the global tournament.
Senegal led Egypt 17–13 in the first quarter, before the Pharaohs dominated the second quarter with a significant margin, ending it 30–17.
In the third quarter, Egypt extended their lead by winning it 21–17. Although they lost the fourth quarter 12–16, they ultimately secured the match victory with a final score of 76–67.
Egypt is competing in a group that includes Angola, Mali, DR Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, and Senegal, with matches played under a home-and-away format.
According to the qualification system, the group winner and runner-up, along with the best third-placed team across all groups, will advance to the 2027 World Cup finals.
Egypt entered the Fourth Window with 9 points accumulated during the previous phase; following their win against Senegal, their total rose to 11 points.
Egypt's next match is scheduled against Côte d'Ivoire on Saturday, August 29, at 3:30 PM Cairo time.
