Egypt national team wraps up training ahead of South Africa clash

The Egyptian national team concluded its training session this Saturday evening, in preparation for the friendly match against South Africa.

Egypt will host South Africa at Cairo Stadium tomorrow evening at 9:00 PM.

Twenty-two players participated in the training session after Ahmed Fattouh returned to group practice following his rehabilitation from a thigh contusion sustained during the match against South Sudan, which Egypt won 5-0, as part of the second round of qualifiers for the 2027 African Cup of Nations finals.

Fattouh had previously suffered an injury during the match against South Africa and was unable to complete that game.

Egypt will conclude its matches during the current international break with a fixture against South Africa.

Egypt had drawn against Angola in the first round of the 2027 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Egypt holds four points, topping Group Two in the 2027 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Egypt is placed in Group Two of the African Cup of Nations qualifiers alongside Angola, South Sudan, and Malawi.

This gathering marks Egypt's first since the 2026 World Cup held last July.

Egypt reached the Round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup for the first time in its history.
