Egypt and South Africa last met in their most recent match at the previous Africa Cup of Nations, where the Pharaohs secured a 1-0 victory with a goal scored by Mohamed Salah from a penalty kick.
During the international break, Egypt played two matches against Angola and South Sudan, drawing 0-0 in the first and winning 5-0 in the second, as part of the qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations.
Egypt currently tops its group standings in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with 4 points, following one win and one draw.
On the other hand, South Africa, under the guidance of Pitso Mosimane, former Al Ahly coach, also played two qualifying matches, defeating Guinea 2-1 and then beating Eritrea 5-0.
Tomorrow's match will be an opportunity for Hossam Hassan to secure his first victory over Mosimane, having previously faced each other three times when the latter was coaching Al Ahly and the former was leading Ittihad Alexandria.
The two coaches first met in the Egypt Cup semi-finals, where Al Ahly won 2-1, followed by a 4-0 victory in the Egyptian Premier League in December 2020, before winning again 2-1 in May 2021 during the same season.
