South African coach Pitso Mosimane, head coach of the South Africa national team, cemented his historical dominance over his counterpart Hossam Hassan, head coach of the Egyptian national team, following Sunday evening's defeat.

The Egyptian national team fell to a 1-0 loss against South Africa in a friendly match held at Cairo International Stadium, marking the conclusion of both teams' fixtures during the current international break.

Jayden Adams scored the opening goal for Bafana Bafana in the 50th minute, capitalizing on Mostafa Shobair's error in clearing the ball; he dribbled past Hossam Abdel Magid and easily slotted the ball into the net.

With this result, Pitso Mosimane has achieved victory in all his managerial encounters against Hossam Hassan; winning three times while coaching Al Ahly and once more with the South African national team.

Mosimane's victories with Al Ahly against Hossam Hassan came as follows: (2-1 in the 2020 Egypt Cup semi-final, and 4-0 then 2-1 in the 2020-2021 Premier League), while the latest win occurred during the recent friendly between Egypt and South Africa.

It is worth noting that during Mosimane's first tenure as head coach of the South African national team, he defeated the Pharaohs by a clean sheet in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in March 2011, while the two sides drew in the return leg of those qualifiers.

The Egyptian national team had previously drawn goallessly against Angola, then secured a resounding 5-0 victory over South Sudan in the first and second rounds of the qualifiers for AFCON 2027.

The Egyptian national team is scheduled to resume its campaign in the third round of the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations with a tough match against Malawi on November 11, 2026.
