Egypt national team crushes South Sudan in Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers

The Egyptian national team secured a valuable away victory against South Sudan, winning five goals to nil on Tuesday evening, as part of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Egypt faced South Sudan in the second round of the qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations finals, with the match played at Juba National Stadium.

Mostafa Ziko scored Egypt's first goal in the 36th minute, and Omar Marmoush managed to score the Pharaohs' second goal in the 49th minute.

Ibrahim Adel scored the third goal in the 75th minute, before Omar Marmoush returned to score the fourth goal in the 82nd minute, and Hamza Abdel Karim recorded the fifth goal in the 90+1st minute.

Egypt raised their points tally to four, topping Group Two in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, while South Sudan remained in last place with no points.

Egypt had drawn goallessly in the first round against Angola in the match held last Friday at Cairo International Stadium.

In the second minute, Imam Ashour missed a clear chance after dribbling past the last defender in South Sudan's stadium, but his shot went just wide of the right post of South Sudan's goal.

In the 53rd minute, Ahmed Fathy suffered a muscle injury and was forced to leave the field, replaced by Karim Hafez.

Ibrahim Adel nearly extended Egypt's lead with a third goal in the 54th minute, receiving a pass from Rami Rabia and unleashing a shot from the right side of the penalty area, but the ball went just wide of the left post of South Sudan's goal.

South Sudan's Koor Koor missed a chance to reduce the deficit, shooting from inside the penalty area but missing the right post of Mostafa Shobir's goal, Egypt's goalkeeper.

Omar Marmoush missed a chance to score a third goal after receiving a pass from Imam Ashour, following it up with a powerful shot from the edge of the penalty area, but the ball flew over the crossbar of South Sudan's goal.

In the 75th minute, Ibrahim Adel scored Egypt's third goal, receiving a cross from Marwan Attia from midfield, breaking through one-on-one with the South Sudan goalkeeper, and firing a powerful shot into the net.

Omar Marmoush scored Egypt's fourth goal in the 82nd minute, receiving a cross inside the penalty area, dribbling past the South Sudan goalkeeper, and placing the ball into the empty net.
