Jesse Marsch, the head coach of the Canadian national team, believes that his team was better against Morocco, despite the defeat.
The Canadian team lost to Mexico, 3-0 in the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup.
Jesse Marsch said in a press statement: "We were the better team on the field, it's true they had more attempts than us and came with greater quality in the final attacking third, but in terms of the game plan and the idea of how to perform and the young players' belief in themselves, we were the better team in the first half and at the start of the second half, just one moment created the lead goal with a clean sheet, but the match was ours."
He added: "In these big matches, it's about how to be ourselves, how much we believe in playing, and how much we impose our style on our opponents, and we did that indeed, we were unlucky in opening the scoring, it's about the final details, they have quality and players active at very high levels, but we delivered an amazing performance."
He continued: "Our fans had the privilege of cheering for a team like this, we need to be in these situations and major tournaments more and more, and despite the quality and strength of the Moroccan team, I always prefer to be one of us, I couldn't be prouder, and I extend my heartfelt thanks to Canada."
